Motorized Awning Sizes and Projection Guide

Use this guide to prepare project measurements and understand model-specific size combinations. Final dimensions should be confirmed against the selected product source.

01

Understanding Awning Width

Awning width is the span across the opening and along the mounting line. Record the clear wall width, then note trim, fixtures and adjacent walls that could affect the cassette or arms.

02

What Projection Means

Projection describes how far the awning extends outward from the mounting line. The shaded area also depends on mounting height, arm angle and the position of the sun, so nominal projection is a planning dimension rather than a promise of exact shade coverage.

03

Width Versus Projection

A wider awning does not automatically mean a greater projection. Available width-to-projection combinations depend on the selected model and its engineering configuration. Always read the model-specific source table as matched width and projection pairs.

04

Measure the Installation Area

Prepare the following information before requesting a quotation. Measurements should be taken at the actual mounting area and checked against the building conditions visible in your photos or drawings.

  • Available Wall Width

Measure the clear span where the cassette could be fixed.

  • Desired Projection

Record the intended shade depth from the mounting line.

  • Mounting Height

Note the height above openings and the space needed when retracted.

  • Window and Door Clearance

Check opening paths, handles and trim for interference.

  • Nearby Obstacles

Record lights, vents, gutters, corners, railings and other projections.

  • Mounting Surface

Identify the wall or fascia; the final fixing approach needs site review.

  • Installation Photos

Include straight-on and side views to show the surrounding conditions.

05

Sizing Patios and Commercial Spaces

Residential and commercial projects use the same width and projection principles, but the planning questions are different. Review the intended use, mounting context and quantity before selecting a model.

Residential Patios

  • Outdoor Furniture Layout: leave comfortable circulation around tables and seating.
  • Desired Shade Coverage: decide which seating or door area should be covered.
  • Sun Direction: note when direct sun reaches the patio.
  • Available Installation Space: check wall width, height and nearby openings.

Commercial Projects

  • Multiple Openings: list every opening rather than assuming one size fits all.
  • Project Measurements: provide a consistent set of width and projection records.
  • Mounting Conditions: identify facade, fascia or other fixing surfaces.
  • Quantity Requirements: state the number of awnings and any phased delivery needs.
  • Technical Drawings: share elevations or details when available.

How to Read a Product Size Table

Read width and projection as a matched row and column in the selected product documentation. For our featured full cassette awning, send your dimensions for quotation; a complete size matrix has not yet been confirmed.

Start with the product source for the model you are considering. The Full cassette product details explain the configuration information to submit for a quotation. Each product requires its own compatible size confirmation.

07

Common Measurement Mistakes

A careful site check helps prevent an apparently suitable size from becoming difficult to install or use.

  1. 01Ignoring Obstructions: Check fixtures, gutters, lights, rails and corners before selecting a width.
  2. 02Confusing Width with Projection: Width runs along the wall; projection extends outward from it.
  3. 03Overlooking Mounting Height: Height affects clearance, appearance and the usable shade area.
  4. 04Assuming Every Size Combination Is Available: Use the exact model table; maximum values cannot be freely paired.
  5. 05Not Checking the Mounting Surface: The wall or fascia and its fixing conditions must be reviewed for the actual building.
